Following victories over IWGP Jr. Heavyweight Champion Hiromu Takahashi and House of Torture’s SHO, Mike Bailey looked to continue his undefeated streak in the NJPW Best of the Super Jr. 30. Day 3 took place from Nagoya where Bailey locked up with TJP of United Empire. Both competitors had an answer for each other’s offense in the early going. The first advantage went to TJP as he prevented Bailey from flying over the top rope and drove him back-first into the apron. TJP then locked in a submission on the ropes, breaking it before the referee’s count of 5. TJP remained in control as he delivered a running boot in the corner. But then, Bailey went high-risk as he connected with a springboard Moonsault to the outside. Back in the ring, Bailey gained the upper-hand during an exchange of superkicks. An unsuccessful Detonation Kick attempt from TJP led to Bailey connecting with his signature double knees. Moments later, TJP revived himself and connected with a tornado DDT, followed by a leaping DDT for two. TJP attempted the Mamba Splash but it was countered into Bailey’s running kick. Bailey then planted him with the Flamingo Driver to score the pinfall. Bailey now sits at 3-0 in the tournament.
