Mike Bailey Bests Ryusuke Taguchi as NJPW Best of the Super Jr. 30 Continues

Mike Bailey faced off against Ryusuke Taguchi on day 8 of the NJPW Best of the Super Jr. 30 from Tokyo’s Korakuen Hall. While Taguchi was mathematically eliminated from the tournament, perhaps he was looking to play spoiler as Bailey was locked in a tie for 1st place in A Block. Taguchi was aggressive in the early going as he drove Bailey’s knee into the exposed floor. Taguchi continued to target the left knee of Bailey in an attempt to neutralize much of his move-set. Bailey started to build momentum with a dropkick out of the corner, followed by a running Shooting Star. Bailey attempted his signature wind-up kick but Taguchi countered with a hip attack. Bailed soared, taking out Taguchi with a springboard Shooting Star to the outside. Taguchi goaded his opponent into kicking the steel ring post with full force. Back in the ring, Taguchi locked in the ankle lock but Bailey made it to the ropes. Following a flurry of near falls for both competitors, Bailey finally scored the victory after trapping Taguchi in a pinning predicament. Bailey now sits at 6-2 in the tournament.
